Portet d’Aspet 1069m (west)

Western climb from Senguagnet

Featured in numerous Tour de France, col du Portet-d’Aspet may not be very high, nor very long, and its mild average gradient may be very deceptive, but its western slope is a tough TDF climb with the last 4.3 km averaging a 9.3% grade.

These last kilometers make for a technical descent, notoriously known for causing the death of Tour de France leader Fabian Casartelli whose Stella is set four kilometer before the top.
